As far as I’m concerned, the word “martial” has become a dirty word in this country, so I prefer to use the term “self-defense.” This may sound a little strange coming from a Muslim who is also a martial arts enthusiast, but I can assure you that this article is meant to help you understand the difference between self-defense and martial arts.
A lot of people who try to learn martial arts often get into the swing of “Oh, okay, martial arts is something that you can do in your house, where I need to get into the swing of it,” but when you start with self-defense, you need to think about the bigger picture.
A martial arts instructor who doesn’t understand the difference between self-defense and martial arts isn’t going to be able to teach a class. He’s going to be useless to the person who wants to learn martial arts. And so is the person who wants to learn self-defense. It’s important to realize that a good martial arts instructor and a good self-defense instructor are two entirely different animals.
So, self-defense is more than just a sport of kicking people in the head. It requires a balance of mind and body. A good self-defense instructor is able to recognize when a situation is not one of self-defense but not a situation where a person needs to rely on their own strength. Good martial arts instructors are able to recognize when a situation is not one of self-defense but not a situation where a person needs to rely on their own strength.
The problem is when we look at martial arts as just a sport in a gym. Sure, martial arts is a sport that takes place in a gym, but it’s a sport that has a lot more to it than just kicking someone in the head. Most martial arts are about self-defense and the ability to defend ourselves. The martial arts that I teach also focus on other skills like self-defense, communication, and martial arts theory.
Even in self-defense, the goal is to win. The goal is to win the duel of wills. If you have to rely on your own strength, then the odds are stacked against you. That’s not to say martial arts is useless, it is just not a sport that the average person engages in because it’s not a sport that is as accessible to the average person as, say, golf or tennis are.

I’m not saying martial arts is useless, I’m saying that there are a lot of things that you can do well that most people can’t do. If you have a ton of patience, you can learn a few things to make you a better fighter. I mean, a lot of people have the skills, and they’re great, but if you don’t have that patience, the odds are stacked against you.
People have a lot of opinions on martial arts, so I will say that I am not against it, and I don’t think anyone can teach it to you. I would just be wary of anything that starts out with the words “I will teach you how to do martial arts.” It’s one of those things that you should probably develop in your own time.
So what are we talking about here? We’re talking about martial arts, right? That’s a lot of what you learn in a martial arts class. The basics are about learning how to fight in a way that is safe and effective. When I was growing up, everybody wanted to know how to box, or kick, or punch. The idea is that you learn to use your body to get as far as possible and to do it in a way that hurts you and makes you do damage.
