When we are a chef, then the game really begins. We are just using our phone number as a way of communicating with our clients and our family. If you’re at a restaurant with a customer, then it might be important to know that the customer is in the restaurant, not at the restaurant. That’s just the nature of the game, and it’s not something that the chef has to do. We just need to know that the chef is a regular member of the team.
You don’t have to know how to cook, but you should know how to read and write. There’s a reason why so many chefs are in high school. You’ll have a much better chance of getting a job flipping burgers if you can read and write.
But then again, it might be a good idea to know how to cook if you plan on having a large kitchen. As long as its not a cooking contest you can be a great chef. It will be easier to communicate with customers if you know how to read and write. In the grand scheme of things, we don’t really care about knowing how to cook as long as you know what to do with the food.
