The Winston Salem Art Council has been the largest artist-led organization in the state of North Carolina for the past 30 years. Our annual fundraiser, Art in the Park, features painting and other artists promoting the area, both locally and nationally.
I think Winston is the best place to advertise art. The arts council is the largest in the state and, with the support of our artist members, the council runs a number of events, including an art-in-the-park for kids. Each year the kids come with their own art and the adults get a chance to talk with the kids about how they think they can improve their art.
Art in the Park is a huge success and, I believe, should be a model for the arts council. I believe it can do a better job of advertising and promoting art and arts in general, which is a problem for the council because they are more about promoting the area for art related events. If this is what the arts council does, then I will be happy.
