Since 2001, the arts administration has offered more than $50 million in grants to organizations with a mission to encourage the sharing of knowledge and the creation of new opportunities for creative expression. There are a lot of parallels between the two organizations. The ASCO is a regional organization that provides a great deal of funding for regional arts organizations. The ARAO, on the other hand, is a much smaller organization with a very broad scope and a very specific mission. Both organizations are very, very important to the future of the arts in the area, and it’s unfortunate that the ARAO no longer exists.
