One night in New York a few years ago, while walking around one of the busiest and most famous neighborhoods in the city, I was drawn to a display of contemporary painting. The artist, Michael Sisis, was there to talk to the public, and I watched him for a long time. After a while, I became interested in the work he was doing. I eventually found his website, and decided to go see him and buy a painting.

Weinberg’s mission is to help students achieve their lifelong artistic goals, and to make their experience at the college an enriching one. And that’s something I’ve come to realize over the years as I’ve been involved with the college. One of the great things about art is that you get to think about how an artist creates something. You know they’re not just doing what comes naturally, but they’re actually thinking about it and creating something that’s special, not just the next masterpiece.
A lot of the students that come to Weinberg are kids from broken homes. They come from dysfunctional families and theyre trying to get their lives together. Its one of the reasons we are so proud of what the arts at Weinberg are doing.
