Seashells are one of those items that can be used in just about any craft, hobby, or activity. All you need is a few small pebbles or shells and you are good to go.
For those who don’t want to actually look for shells, which is probably most of us, there’s always the search term “sea shells to craft” that can get you started. I have to admit that I searched a little bit there on Google, but I really just wanted to see what the world looked like from a seascape.
The thing is, seashells are just shells, and they are not made of the same stuff as the shells on your kitchen sink. Instead of being made of a substance called coral, they are made of a substance called calcareous clay. The difference is that calcareous clay is a mixture of calcium carbonate and carbonate of lime. While coral is a fossilized calcium carbonate from the sea, the sea is a different sea altogether.
The best way I can explain this is by comparing it to a carpenter making a new set of table legs. You know what you like, you start with the same basic idea, but you can do it in a much cleaner way because the material you’re going to use is very uniform. In contrast, a carpenter will start with the idea of what type of wood he’s going to use, and will have to work his way out to the details.
Seashells are made from the same kind of wood, and have a similar process. Seashells are basically soft shells. The material is soft, it has a smooth surface, and the shells are made from it. What you want to do is cover the surface of your shells with a layer of something, and then paint it. If you want something really heavy, like cement, you can use a mold, then you just lay your shells in the mold.
It’s a great way to cover the shell with a substance that will hold up under the pressure of paint. Not only is it good for the shells, but it’s good for your finish. If you want to use it as a sealant, you put the stuff on and wait a few days.
I have to admit that I’m not a fan of the idea. I’m not sure how it would work. Maybe I’m just not ready for it yet, but I don’t think I would enjoy it.
seashells are awesome. They are really hard to find so finding them is a pain in the butt. But if you do find them, you can use them as a way to help cover the shell with a material. A few shells laying on your floor are a good idea if you want to have a smooth, shiny surface. A few shells in a corner or a drawer are good for making a nice, glossy finish.
And if you want to use the shells as a way to cover up the shell, you can cover up the shell with a smooth material. Just be sure to use a good quality shell. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to use shell from a beach, but I would hate to see a shell that was made for a boat.
I like this idea, and I like how shells are being used to cover up the shell.
