In the modern world, we have to take care of ourselves and our environment as best we can. We spend more time than ever before in a car, and our days are often filled with distractions that can either be our own or those of others. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
I was talking to my friend Mike this week and he suggested there are a lot of reasons why many people find it difficult to make a change in their lives. The fact is that most of us are already pretty good at what we do. We can do it, we know how to do it, but we just don’t often do it because we don’t know how.
It’s true. You might be the person who can do it, but you probably dont know how. The thing is, most people will do it if you take the time to do it. You might be the person who likes to work from home, and you might be the person who works in an office, but you probably don’t know how to get organized. The best thing you can do is to make a little time each week to organize your life.
We can get a little meta here. We can see how many people have taken this concept to heart and really know how to do stuff. We can also see how many people have taken the time to do stuff, but just don’t know how, and how many of them it takes to do it. The thing is, being organized takes time, commitment, and a willingness to set aside time each week for the task. Most people never do it.
One of the most common ways we can take this concept to heart is by getting organized. And that is the most important task to take on. If you want to get organized, you have to start with the right thing. Make a list and try to be as specific as possible.
Most people don’t have this list. But if you make one, it will help you get started, because even if you don’t know what to do, you can start by writing down a few things that you want to accomplish in a week or a month or a year. You can also decide to make a list of the things that you don’t want to accomplish, and you can start by thinking about these things and planning to do them.
This is the exact same procedure that we use to get organized. But it helps to make a list, because it helps us keep track of what we want to do, and what we want to accomplish, and how we should get to them. If we do one thing a week, we can usually accomplish it in 5-6 weeks. If we make a list, we can usually accomplish it in 7-14 weeks.
Making a list of things you dont want to do can be a time-saver for the very same reasons that having a list of things you want to do helps you focus. Like most people, we tend to think were so busy we cant do anything, and then we realize that we actually only accomplish a fraction of what we set out to do. Making a list helps us focus on what we want to do and when we want to do it, and keeps us from giving up.
