I love it when artists show up to an event. Especially if it’s on a Saturday. What is it about them doing it that I love? The fact is that I’m not a huge fan of art festivals. I don’t like them because most festivals, at least here in Texas, aren’t open to the public. They are private events that are more for artists who make a living off of their art.
I am a huge fan of art festivals. The thing is, I do not like many “art” festivals. I mean, I really enjoy art festivals. But, for the people who are there to see art, it just feels like a bunch of people are trying to get a quick kick out of spending their last few dollars. I think that when you are a tourist and you go to a festival, you are there because you want to see art.
Some festivals, like ICONS and the San Francisco International Contemporary Art Fair, are great because the art is so much more than just “art.” There’s a philosophy to the festival that the art is the focus of the event. It’s not just “I’m going to see my friends get married” or “I’m going to hang out with my friend who is a musician.
A festival is a great way to get a quick “kick” out of spending your last few dollars and there are a lot of festivals with great art on display. The only way to really get hooked is to be there and ICONS is just the biggest festival that ICONS has ever been at. Its the largest festival that ICONS has ever been at. Its in San Francisco.
Its also a lot of fun. It’s a lot of fun to watch a bunch of your friends get together and spend money on art. Then you go to the festival and see all of these amazing art pieces.

ICONS has been going on since the early 90s (just like ICONS), but its grown significantly since then. ICONS has grown from a small (and fun) convention where everyone had a booth to the big event that was like a huge party. It’s now a big event with a lot of people who make up the convention.
