I love martial arts and have been fighting in a few for a number of years now. The physical training is incredible, and the training is very technical (and very intense). I find martial arts to be a great way to make me feel powerful – but not in a way that is too violent, or that hurts me, or that makes me out to be “macho.
The only problem with martial arts is that it can be too mechanical. It can make you feel like you are doing something that you are not. When it comes to martial arts, there is a “good” side, something that is more physical and useful than the “good” side you get from martial arts that is very, very mechanical.

The martial arts techniques are based on the concept of “feel.” That is, you have to have the correct amount of force to feel the correct result. This can be a problem for beginners because they can’t feel the correct amount of force. There’s a lot of stuff out there that is super easy to do. For those who are interested, there are many “hardened martial arts” that can be done with a solid core of training. But if you want to go hard, there are also many “soft martial arts” that are much more forgiving of mistakes and require a bit of training.
In that regard, I would say that martial arts are not hard, it’s just not as forgiving as soft martial arts.
