In this article, I will explain my interest in martial arts qigong. For those of you unfamiliar with qigong and Tai Chi, I feel like it is a form of exercise that is quite similar to martial arts. It is a combination of the traditional elements of martial arts and a bit of qigong.
Tai Chi is the most well-known martial art in China, with it’s roots in the Shaolin monks who learned it from their teacher Sun Yat-Sen. Although it was developed by Shaolin monks, I feel that it’s a form of exercise that is quite similar to martial arts, and the Shaolin monks were probably the most well-known martial artists of all time.
The idea of a martial art combining elements of traditional martial arts and qigong makes sense to me since qigong has been proven to reduce stress, improve one’s stamina, and increase the immune system. And the ancient Shaolin monks also practiced it, making it one of the most well-known forms of martial arts in China.
Shaolin qigong is a combination of basic martial arts and meditation. It’s a form of qigong that combines the physical elements of martial arts (kick, punch, kick, punch) with the mental element of meditation (inner calm).
