I have had the pleasure of learning some great martial arts in my life. I have a black belt in Aikido, and have had countless lessons over the years. The push form is something I actually learned from a martial arts teacher, and I never thought it was something I’d apply in combat. But when I was in a long-running battle with an ex-colleague, I saw him hit his face and break his nose.
It was the push form. The push form is a very simple motion where you stand and thrust your arms straight out at your body. A good way to practice this is by standing in a corner, doing push-ups off your toes, and walking around the room. If you can do this right then you can go to a more challenging push-up spot, but it’s not a bad way to start.
