The Canandaigua performing arts center is a beautiful arts complex in the heart of downtown. From the architecture, the space feels very intimate and inviting. The gardens, which face each other across the whole complex, are a great place to gather with friends or enjoy a drink and a show.
The complex is also known for its music program, which is great for the whole family. The main programs at the arts center include classes for children, classes for adults, and special programs for seniors.
The Canandaigua arts center isn’t quite the kind of place you’d expect to be for a show, but there are three stages for music, dance, and theater. The gardens are a great place to play games and have a drink when you’re not showing.
Although its not a show, the Canandaigua arts center hosts a variety of events ranging from comedy to drama. It also has a summer theater series and a summer musical theater series which each have concerts and shows. There are also several fine dining restaurants to enjoy, so it’s all good.

Canandaigua is also home to the University of Minnesota’s MFA program, and its also home to the Northstar Theater, a highly respected theater. The theater performs a wide variety of musicals and dramas and has a great reputation for bringing in local and national entertainment.
The arts center is named after the local school, Canandaigua High, and was the location for the first MFA program in Minnesota in the mid-1970s. Its the perfect location for a fine dining restaurant, and its also the location of the MFA program in Northstar.
The theater has recently opened a new wing to house an expanded restaurant menu. The plan is to bring in a new chef from Chicago and to renovate its existing dining rooms. We’re hoping the new menu will include more unique fare like a few local recipes.
The first time they ever ate the new menu, they were absolutely amazed. We didn’t expect to see so much diversity in the new menu, but you could tell it was a major effort to pull it off. The new menu still includes a variety of classic European and American dishes like cod with sautéed apples, lobster, and a roasted duck. The dining room is getting a full makeover and has gone from three sets of stained glass to a beautiful new mural all around the place.
The new menu is one of the more unique things you can find in Canandaigua– a unique place to dine. The dining room is going through a full makeover and now it has more than 50 different types of wine to choose from. Because it’s the home of the Canandaigua Opera, the restaurant is also getting a complete makeover. They are redoing the entire restaurant and it looks absolutely stunning.
