I had the good fortune of meeting Mark Madden in 2010. Mark was in the midst of a pretty big deal when he started working with me. He had just moved back to Seattle, where he was living during the winter. We were working on getting his home into shape, specifically getting it ready for his new business. He was looking to expand his business to include home remodeling, and he wanted me to recommend that his home be remodeled.
Mark was doing a lot of remodeling, but he was really just getting his home ready for his new business. That was kind of the goal of my recommendation, to ensure that his new business was ready to open when he was ready. The first thing I did was give him a business card with one of the business names that I had written down on the back.
That business card said “Mark’s Business Card” and the business name on the back was “Mark’s Home Remodeling”. This is because Mark already had a home remodeling business, and he wanted to open it up in his new home, just to make sure it was ready when he wanted it.
I don’t have any information on him beyond what the card said, but I do believe that Mark had a home remodeling business in the past, and this was the first time he had one.
So, how do I know if I think too much of my business cards? Well, all I can say is that I’ve had several of them show up in my mailbox. I’ve had a few people try to sell me the business cards in my mailbox, and I’ve had several people try to sell me the actual business cards. If you’ve ever had a business card, there’s just something about them that makes them very memorable.
This is such a good example of what makes a business card memorable. It’s the way that a business card says something like “I have a business that I run out of my home, but I’m open to any business that you might want to know more about.” If you are a business owner, the odds are pretty good that you’ll be asked about your business the same way.
