I can’t really say the same about the Korean Broadcasting System’s award, which went to Baek Seung-gyu (“Baek”), the man who won “Most Popular Male in Television.” But I do know that Baek has a lot of fans in South Korea and many are curious to see his full face on television.
It’s true that the man with the most popular face on the nation’s TV screens is the least popular, but in this case it’s not necessarily the guy who is most likeable. One reason that the winning male face is so popular on TV is because he is typically the biggest of the three major faces on the screen.
Baek has a few fans even in South Korea though many of them are younger men not as interested in watching TV shows. For instance, Baek’s fans are mostly young men who are bored with the typical celebrity dramas. They like the older more serious dramas, and they like to see actors like Baek on screen. I think this makes Baek’s popularity more of a surprise because he’s so different from what is popular in South Korea.
If you were to ask me, I would say that Baek is the most popular male in South Korea. This is not true in Hong Kong, which is the home of idol culture and the most popular form of entertainment in the world. In Hong Kong, there are several celebrities who are popular but also are not as recognized in their home country. So if you ask me which is the most popular male in South Korea, I would say that the one I said about Baek.
Well, I am from Hong Kong, so I could be wrong about that. But it appears that in South Korea, at least, men are considered as a group of people who are not as successful as their women counterparts. I might be wrong about that as well. I don’t know. But that’s not what I said in my article.

The best-selling artist in the country is Yoo Hee-Seung, aka Kim Jong-Gook, a rapper in the K-Pop group B1A4. He is known for his extremely popular song “Gangnam Style.
For a long time this award was not really well-known by the public, so I don’t know if Kim Jong-Gook is the most popular male in South Korea as of right now, but he definitely is the most popular male artist. In fact, his albums as a whole are very popular. And his album was #2 on South Korea’s Gaon charts.
This is actually quite amazing. The most popular artists in South Korea are all artists who have made the most money. I mean, there are many artist who make lots of money, but none have made a lasting name for themselves. So if the most popular artist in Korea makes as much money as Yoo Hee-Seung, then he is the most popular artist in South Korea.
