The next time you’re in a meeting and it’s time for questions, ask them. Ask for the details. Ask for the answer and be ready to walk out of the room the minute you get the answer. Don’t go to the next meeting with a blank stare, but instead, go in with a full set of questions and a plan.
This is advice that a lot of people use when they’re not looking for information and when they’re not sure if they should be asking. It’s also advice we use when we’re unsure of the answer. We think that if we ask for the right thing and then go to the right person, we’re more likely to get it.
A lot of people ask for advice based on the information they receive from friends and family. If someone says they want to learn something, we think that that is the best advice they can get. However, being able to ask questions to those people is a great way to figure out what they are really asking for.
The problem is that not all people have the same level of business acumen. So if someone asks us a question that you think is too challenging, we may very well help them figure out if it is the right thing to ask.
That is a good point. We also sometimes have questions for people that are not so business savvy. You can be sure that if someone gives us a question that they don’t think is really worth asking, they are unlikely to answer it.
A question is worth answering if it is useful and interesting. Unfortunately, not everything that is worth answering will be useful or interesting, and you can probably be sure that we would not help someone that isn’t looking for help in this particular way.
I think that is a useful point. It means you should ask a question, and if it doesnt seem worth answering, then you should probably just ignore it.
When people ask us about our business acumen, we tend to get a lot of questions about how we answer questions, what we think about questions, and other things that we might not even know about ourselves, but that you would think people would be interested in. The ones that we get seem to be the ones that are the most interesting, useful, and important. We get questions about how we make money, what we think about making money, and other such things.
But the fact of the matter is that when it comes to business, we are almost by definition the most business-oriented people out there. It’s all about getting as much money as we can in as little time as we can. If we can only get a couple dollars out of every sale, we tend to lose money. We make more money if we get free stuff. We get more free stuff if we sell lots of stuff. We don’t work so much if we get paid.
Being able to think and act without being afraid of failure is pretty hard for a lot of people. But if you have a life, then you really have a pretty good reason for keeping up with the world.
