The Bishop Arts District is only a couple of miles away from me, so it is no surprise that when I’m out in the city I find myself walking past so many delicious restaurants. The best ones I’ve had have been at one of Dallas’s premiere restaurants, Bishop Arts District.
I’ve never been to a restaurant that I’d call “best,” but the Bishop Arts District is easily the most upscale, with top-tier chefs and waitstaff. The area is also well known for its excellent (and cheap) steak house, Bishop’s Steak.
Bishop Arts District is located in the heart of downtown Dallas. This is not your typical art gallery or tourist trap, but rather a place with the highest standards of taste and service. This is definitely not your average fast-food joint, but instead an upscale dining destination that I would gladly eat my way through.
The name Bishop doesn’t seem to have any negative connotations, but rather is a reference to the archbishop of Dallas. However, it is also the name of the district’s restaurants. As you may remember, Bishop Arts is where Bishop White’s legendary steakhouse is located. You can also find the same steakhouse at the Bishop Art District DFW Airport.
Okay, I hope this was fun. I’ve been a diehard fan of Bishop White’s since I was a kid, but my favorite restaurants in Dallas have been at the Blackbird and the Blackbird II. I’ve always wanted a place inside the Blackbird to enjoy the same dining experience as those restaurants, so I’m thrilled to finally have this opportunity to try them.
First, I had a blast trying them out. The Blackbird is a much more casual restaurant than the Blackbird II, and the food was the same as you’d get at any other place. The Blackbird II on the other hand is a more formal restaurant with a bar area that serves the kind of steakhouse meals you’d find at a more upscale restaurant.
All the restaurants have their own theme, so no two are alike. The most common theme to me is a mix of modern and art deco. There are some places that are more modern. Ive heard the best places to go for the Blackbird is The Blackbird II or the Blackbird Restaurant. Ive also heard there is one restaurant that im in love with at The Blackbird I.
The Blackbird II, I think, is a little confusing because it’s not exactly in the same building as the other restaurants. The Blackbird Restaurant is in the new bishop arts district just across the street from art and music school. The Blackbird II is in the old bishop arts district across the street from the art and music school.
I have a soft spot for the Blackbird Restaurant, but I’m not sure how much I would like the Blackbird II because I think its a little too similar to the Blackbird I for me personally. It just doesn’t have the same vibe for me.
Bishop arts district is the place to be if you’re ever in the area, and the Blackbird Restaurant is the place to be if you’re ever in the area either. We actually have two restaurants in the area. The Blackbird Restaurant is on the east side of the art and music school and is the place you’ll find the Blackbird II which is on the west side of the art and music school.
