I believe that visual arts have a place in the modern world. I think there are some important problems that visual arts can help us with.
What’s interesting is that a lot of the problems that visual arts can solve are the same problems that are facing art today. A lot of people are trying to make art that is beautiful, and some of those paintings just won’t do because they’re too beautiful. The same is true with computer graphics. We’re getting more and more realistic results from computer graphics, but it all comes down to making things that look appealing to us.
So, it might be a bit premature to think of visual arts as a replacement for art, but some of the most fascinating paintings I’ve seen in my life have been created with a computer. A lot of those paintings were made using what we now call photorealistic graphics. But these paintings were created by creating things that you can see when you look at them.
For a while, I thought photorealistic graphics were basically just a way to make things look better. But not long after I started doing those kinds of paintings, I realized that it was a way to create something more interesting. The computer makes things look more realistic, but you still have to create things that are appealing to you. Photorealistic graphics and photorealistic art are two sides of the same coin.
I like to think of this as your “eye” for the world. If you know how you see the world at a given time, then you can create things that make you look at them in that way. Photorealistic graphics are still a way to create something more interesting, but they still take a lot of time to create. They’re still very much work, but you get to enjoy them more.
