I have been an advocate of performing arts since my first year of high school. It started with me wanting to sing in a choir and wanting to paint in a paint class. I never thought I would end up performing in a choir or a painting class.
It’s not all that hard to learn how to perform, but it is hard to teach. And even more so when you are trying to get all of your peers to agree on what “good” singing is. But Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, a downtown San Francisco nonprofit, offers a way to make it easy. They have a very simple, non-traditional approach to performing.
Cerritos has a very small choir that sings three or four times a year. The school’s director, James Yung, has taught for years at Cerritos and has a great deal of experience in teaching. He started a few years ago by asking his students to sing with him on Saturday nights. They would do a little bit of everything. And now they have a very professional group of singers who are all ready to go.
Cerritos is located in a town called Cerritos, which is an hour from where I live in Los Angeles. I think it’s because of the name that I remember it being a small town, but it’s actually quite large. It’s got a population of about 12,000 people. The church is one of the oldest in the area, and the people who run it are pretty old and pretty well established.
Cerritos is like the big-time version of our own little town of Los Angeles. It was started in the early 1900s by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is a Mormon church. In Cerritos, Mormons built the only temple in the United States, which is pretty amazing considering the church only has 10 million members worldwide. When I first moved to L.A.
Cerritos is like our old-timey church, but with a few modern touches. Cerritos Center (formerly known as the Crenshaw Center for the Performing Arts) is a performing arts center that was built in the late 1920s and the first of its kind. It is a relatively new center in L.A., but it’s not an L.A. landmark by any means. The building is just a red brick building.
The center has a variety of performances, from jazz to ballet to classical, and even a few theater shows. The performances are all on Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 7pm. The performance director is a very nice woman named Heather Wollman and she has a nice website if you’re interested in seeing some of the work.
Cerritos is one of the few performing arts centers in L.A. that is not connected to a major university and instead is housed in a building that was once a nursing home. It’s basically a recital hall, with an auditorium that is almost always filled. But Cerritos is not just for recitals. It offers classes in everything from ballet to voice, piano to vocal, and theater to Broadway.
Cerritos is a center for the performing arts not because it is a performing arts school, but because it provides an outlet for the performing arts. If you are a performer, you can come to Cerritos and perform for an audience in this auditorium. If you have a hobby, you can create a workshop where you can perform your craft, with the space provided. If you have a talent, you can do the same for your community.
Cerritos is very much a community, since it is located in the heart of the city. It is a very close knit environment that promotes both a sense of community and mutual support. The city is also home to several performing arts organizations such as The Teatro Nacional, The Ballet, and the Teatro Nacional de Puerto Rico.
