idyllwild arts summer program will be our first summer arts program in the beautiful Piedras Blancas. It will be held on the first Saturday of every month from June through September.
The program will consist of two sessions per month, both for $75 per session. Each session is 10 hours long and will be held in the beautiful Piedras Blancas, a small city on the coast about 30 miles south of Puerto Vallarta.
The summer program provides an amazing opportunity for our students to learn the skills of performing arts. The program is for kids ages 14-18 and is designed to prepare them for careers in performing arts. We provide all of the fees, as well as a stipend of $1000 per month for each student.
The program is funded by grants from the University of Puerto Vallarta, the City of Piedras Blancas, the National Institute of Cultural Tourism, the National Commission of Tourism, and the United States Department of the Interior.
I was surprised when I first saw the application materials, because it seemed so different from what I’d seen before. I wasn’t expecting something that looked more like a film school, where the course of study is very short and you learn skills as you are doing it. Instead the course of study is very long and you learn skills as you read about things that look and sound cool. But then again, it’s not a formal audition process.
Id like to think of the program as similar to the art school I mentioned above. I think it is the most well-rounded, most comprehensive arts school in the U.S. It also has a wide range of artistic styles and media, which is great for students who want to explore different art forms.
While not a formal art school, the program has more of a traditional arts school aspect to it. For example, during the course of the summer, there are usually two courses of study, including one that is a more academic course that I like to call the “art history minor”. I personally find that more art history classes are better for me because they are more in-depth and help me develop a more in-depth understanding of art history.
We’ve had some other great art history courses, but Art History has the best feel for me because it is the more traditional arts school part of the program.
The art history minor is only a few weeks long, so I recommend taking it seriously. It is an intense class, but you do get to focus more on the art itself and less on the history.
The art history major is the same as the art history minor, but it is only an intro to the school. The art history major is an intensive course that will introduce you to all the arts in the school, including the visual arts, the fine arts, and the history. It will last anywhere from 3 months to 3 years and it is a class that will really help you become an expert in any aspect of art history, including painting, sculpture, and architecture.
