My daughter is currently a senior at Seoul performing arts high school. I’ve been there with her most of the time, because I’ve been there when she was in elementary school. When I first moved to Korea, my daughter was a junior in high school. She went on to study in the arts school for three years, but I never saw her as a student. It was always more of a time to be with her.
In high school, Seoul arts students are called “the s-k-i-s-l-i-n-g-s-k-s”. They perform in the school’s theater productions, as well as in the school’s music groups. However, they do not get the school colors, except for “Red and White”, which they use for the school’s primary colors.
In Korea, this is a term that is reserved for the high school student who has studied classical or Western music and has been taking music classes since middle school. For the most part, this is a male-dominated profession. In fact, the only female arts student I knew was a Korean high school principal, and even she was often a bit of a bumbling, eccentric, or even eccentric in her own way.
One of the many things I like about Korean high school students is that they are so diligent about their studies. When they have a question, they are likely to ask someone else who is also studying what they are studying. They aren’t lazy, they are very diligent and dedicated, and their academic performance is often above the norm. For instance, I remember one of the most successful high school students I have ever met.
While I don’t know Kim’s specific name, I know that she was a very conscientious student. She was always doing something with her studies, even when not in school. She was always looking into what she was studying and doing the research. She was always up to date on all the latest information in her class, so she was always ahead of the game, even in her senior year.
Kim is an exception to the norm in that she was a pretty exceptional student. She was a top student in her college class, and she did everything in her power to be the best student she could be. She made the most of every opportunity, and her commitment to her education was second to none.
I don’t know if she ever had a chance to know her full potential. It just wasn’t there. She never reached her full potential and didn’t get the opportunities she deserved.
It’s definitely one of the most disappointing things I’ve ever encountered in my life. There is no way to put it into words, but to see a girl like Kim get so much talent and potential and then not ever be given the chance to pursue it is depressing and a waste of all the talent and potential she had.
It’s just heartbreaking. Even though she’s only twenty-two years old, Kim has been to Korea, and she’s been there for her entire life. She’s worked her ass off, and she’s done a lot to get where she is. It’s not like she’s never been told she’s not good enough. No way in hell is she ever going to get the chance to prove herself.
Kim was in high school when the first season began, and was working at a mall as a mall security guard. She was pretty much the next guy up in the pecking order, so when she got cast, it was no surprise. She was probably one of the best high school performers in the country. In fact, as her character in the show, Kim is currently the only female lead in an ensemble cast of about nine.
