I am so excited to tell you that I am proud to be a member of the Frederick Arts Council. I have been a member of the arts council since the beginning. As a member, you get to vote when the arts council makes decisions that affect you.
Art council members are elected by the members of the arts council, so if you join today, you get to vote on many different arts council activities. The arts council has been a bit of a thorn in our side for a while now. In the early 2000’s we had a lot of trouble with some artists who were trying to take advantage of our members’ votes. One artist decided to put a “no artists allowed” sign in a building he was building. Another artist had a member of the art council ask him to remove a painting from the painting committee.
