My name is John Smith. I have a 15 year old son named James and he has been asking for a long time to change his name. He always liked the idea of having a more unique first name and being able to be called by it instead of “hey you” or “hey buddy”. It’s nice when people call us by our names, right? We all want that.I’ve done some research on how to go about changing your child’s last name in North Carolina, but I wasn’t sure what steps would need to be taken with my son’s first name if we wanted him to take on my last name as well (Smith).
As it turns out, there are 15 things I wish I had known before we took the plunge into my son’s first name change! We started out by looking up 15 names we liked. We narrowed it down to ten because I wanted him to have options, but in the end there were 15 things that made us decide on King:- It is easy and can be legally changed later if he wants – The nickname could be “King James” – He really loves basketball so his favorite team is called the Golden State Warriors – they are a dynasty (a king among men) – His teacher told me she was going through some of her old yearbooks from when she taught at another school and found one student named James who went by TJ; combined with our last name, that would make his name “James TJ King” – We could just call him James and if he doesn’t like it later, change the last name to Nolen or something else that sounds good at that time!- 15 Things I Wish I Had Known Before Trying King Names
